Apple releases iOS 16.1.2 with Crash Detection Optimization

While beta testers are waiting for the weekly iOS 16.2 beta updates, Apple releases an incremental update iOS 16.1.2 to the Public. It is a small update for some bug fixes and some optimizations. The new update is available to all eligible iPhones starting from iPhone 8 and all the way up to iPhone 14 series.

This is expected to be the last update for the public before the release of iOS 16.2. The iOS 16.2 update is expected to release mid December. iOS 16.1.2 contains some changes that can’t wait for the big iOS 16.2 release such as important security fixes. As you may already know Apple is testing the rapid security response update, so this might be the last time you need to install a full update to install security updates and bug fixes.

iOS 16.1.2 Update

iOS 16.1.2 is the only update from Apple rolling out today. The latest update for iPhones comes with build number 20B110. It weighs around 300MB. As usual, the update contains some security updates and bug fixes. But along with that, there are also some optimizations. Check out the changelog below.

iOS 16.1.2 Changelog

• Improved compatibility with wireless carriers
• Crash Detection optimizations on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models
• Other bug and security fixes

If you are currently on the iOS 16.1.1 build then you will receive the update. You can check for the update under Settings > General > Software Update. And once you see the update, Download and Install it. The update is not available if you already updated to iOS 16.2 beta.

Before updating your iPhone make sure to take a backup of important data and charge it to at least 50%.
