No One is Playing Sackboy: A Big Adventure on PC

In a sad turn of events, PC players just don’t seem to love Sackboy: A Big Adventure as much as Sony hoped they would. The game was released last week on Steam after being a PS4 and PS5 exclusive since November 2022. However, while you would think that a PlayStation port on PC would sell like hotcakes, the active player count on the game is one of the lowest we have seen to date. At any given moment, Sackboy: A Big Adventure has around 100 players in the game.

To make matters worse, the game has only reached a peak player count of 610. Given that Sackboy: A Big Adventure was released on Friday, you would think more players would be jumping into the game. Sadly, that isn’t the case.

If we look at other PlayStation titles which released on PC, there’s a stark difference in player counts. For example, God of War was released earlier this year and peaked at 73k players. At the time of writing, the game is sitting with 2,700 active players. Even Sony’s less popular game, Days Gone peaked at 27k with 3,000 active players at the time of writing. Sackboy: A Big Adventure is far off from any of these games.

This doesn’t mean the game isn’t selling or it is a bad port. The low player counts could be due to the current gaming climate. There’s a lot to play and gamers are likely sitting in anticipation for some of the November releases. Sackboy: A Big Adventure also isn’t a LittleBigPlanet game. It is a 3D platformer spinoff that plays out very differently compared to the mainstream LittleBigPlanet titles. I am sure that if a LittleBigPlanet game launched on Steam it would be a different story.

It is just sad to see the game sitting in its current state because it is quite a fun experience.
