Xiaomi has officially announced The Redmi Note 12 series in China. The series consists of three devices: Xiaomi Redmi Note 12, Note 12 Pro, and the Note 12 Pro+. There is also a limited edition Note 12 Trend edition and the Note 12 Discovery edition/Explorer edition. The series is a successor of the Redmi Note 11 series and comes with decent specifications, and it caters to budget to mid-range price segments. The Redmi Note lineup is one of the bestselling mid-range smartphones due to it’s value for money, and it seems like these devices are no different. Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Specifications:
The device has a flat 6.67-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with 1,080 x 2,400 pixels resolutions and supports a 120Hz fast refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The display can reach up to 1200 nits of peak brightness in broad daylight. On the top center of the display is a punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter.
The standard Redmi Note 12 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset based on 6nm fabrication. The chipset is paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 Internal storage. There is also an option to expand the internal storage up to 512GB using a memory card.
A vertical camera module on the device’s rear side contains a dual camera system and an LED flashlight. The camera module includes two big camera islands for each camera lens. The device has a 48MP primary camera along with a 2MP depth sensor. On the front is an 8MP front camera for selfies and video calls.
A 5000 mAh battery cell supports 33W fast charging and a 33W fast charger in the retail box. It runs on MIUI 13 custom ROM from Xiaomi on Android 12.
Redmi Note 12 Pro Specifications:
The Note 12 Pro has a 6.67-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 1,080 x 2,400 pixels resolution, 120Hz fast refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and HDR10+ support. It also has a punch-hole cutout at the top center of the display for the front camera.
It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset based on 6nm fabrication. The chipset is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage.
On the rear side is a triple camera system in a similar style vertical camera module as it’s vanilla sibling. The camera module contains two big circular camera islands, one small circular camera island for the third camera lens, and a dual-tone LED flashlight. The camera system has a 50MP Sony IMX 766 primary sensor that supports optical image stabilization, an 8MP ultra-widen lens, and a 2MP macro sensor. A 16 MP front camera for selfies and video calls is on the front.
A 5000 mAh battery cell supports a faster 67W fast charging. It runs on MIUI 13 custom skin on top of Android 12.
Redmi Note 12 Pro+ Specifications:
The Note 12Pro+ is almost similar to that the Note 12 Pro. It has the same 6.67-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 1,080 x 2,400 pixels resolution, 120Hz fast refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and HDR10+ support. It also has a punch-hole cutout at the top center of the display for the front camera. It is also powered by the same MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Both the Pro models also have a Mali G68 GPU for all graphics-related tasks.
The main difference is in the camera department. The Note 12 Pro+ has a triple camera setup with the same camera module. But it has a 200MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization. Xiaomi introduced a 200MP primary sensor in its Redmi Note device for the first time. The primary sensor is paired with the same 8MP ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP macro sensor. On the front is the same 16MP selfie shooter for selfies and video calls. It packs a 5000 mAh battery cell with 120W fast charging supports. It runs on MIUI 13 custom skin on top of Android 12.
